British SCBWI

Unfortunately I was unable to go to the writing retreat this year. Can someone update me on how it all went?
I'm expecting you've all come back full of new ideas and drive to push forward.
it was wonderful last year I bet it was even better this year.

What is a SCBWI SLAM? Or am I missing something?

I'm going to start saving now for next year and hope that nothing come up, or goes wrong to stop me. I can't wait to see the pictures Candy.

Gareth, I managed to go to the retreat last year and like you it was great to put faces to names. I would have loved to have attended this year but couldn't. I missed it thought, especially the food.

I loved the read around too! Sue Eves and I are thinking of organising a SCBWI SLAM, along the same lines!

It was great. As a newbie to SCWBI (rhymes - hee hee), I wanted a way to meet some people as well as escape real life to get some writing done and learn some stuff - ticked all those boxes! What a lovely lot of friendly and talentd folk.

The talks and critique session were all fun and useful (bit of a divided camp on to prologue or not to prologue for my book) and a great "read around" on Sunday night - fab to hear all the different writing styles and stories.

Rare opportunity to have such prolonged contact with two editors (ooh 'er) - Non and Jasmine were really friendly and full of good information and Mary Hoffmann was very down to earth with her advice.

I'll be booking up for next year!
