I started up
eCritique in January 2007. eCritique is a by-invitation only blog where members post their work and critique via the blog's comments facility. It is set up so that it is invisible to Google and can only be accessed by password. From the handful who joined that first month, the membership two years later now numbers 58!

any you scbwi people going to the CBC children's book pub quiz on wednesday (19th?)
http://www.childrensbookcircle.org.uk/
last year there was a table each for most of the different children's publishers plus SCBWI. sadly the scbwi group came bottom ... the little tiger press table was far too knowledgeable about children's publishing. who knows, this year might be different.
if you're coming, see you there!

Ning membership!
just to explain - it's sue hyams or me approving the membership. and the delays? usually have to do with child care, holidays, not checking our email - also we have to contact the US to confirm memberships and that adds to the time it takes to approve members.
that's what comes from a volunteer-run organisation like SCBWI.
HOWEVER! if you live in the UK and you are awaiting approval you can expedite things by forwarding your membership email to me or sue, or even me AND sue (…

Eric Heyman emailed me to ask how to put pictures on his Ning page. One way is to use your blog to feature your work.
1.click 'Add a New Blog Post'
2. Give it a title ('Post Title'), write some text to describe the image.
3. Click on the icon of a camera (when you hover over it, a tool tip appears saying 'Add an image'
4. Clicking on it allows you to choose a file from your computer or enter a url from a web page.
Another way is to put your pictures on something like Flickr or Picasa…

I am very pleased to see that so many of you have gotten the hang of your Ning pages. It's a very powerful tool if you know how to use it. YOu can set up a web page to display all your work and you can also develop links with a large network of like minded people who will be interested in your successes and will support you in your work.
Just some quick suggestions to those who haven't managed to get on top of it yet -
