Another poem

What Have We Got

Well we’ve got it home now, so lets check out the bits

Then take it upstairs and see if it fits.

There seems to be plenty of bolts nuts and screws,

Are you going to help or sit watching the news?

We’ll certainly need glue did they put any in?

If not I think there’s some left in my tin.

Look at these instructions are they put there to tease,

Or do the makers expect we can all read Chinese?

It says… Continue

Thanks to everyone who attended my Masterclass on Writing Dialogue

We had a great Masterclass on Writing Dialogue last Saturday at the usual London meeting place, upstairs at the Theodore Bullfrog pub. Thanks to everyone who attended. I was most impressed by all the different ideas and writing which the writers presented to the class and feedback has been very positive. People have commented that they found the workshop inspiring and very practical, helping them to sort out difficulties with characters and plot, to take their novels forward. I run regular… Continue

I met the delightful Garen Ewing on Tuesday to chat with him about his soon to be published book The Rainbow Orchid, plus comics, art, writing, and film. I couldn't have possibly written it all up, but I've distilled the essence of our conversation for your delight and delectation and had it posted to The Phantom Zone, along with some super pics that Garen supplied. Garen… Continue

One of my poems

The Worm.

The worm lost it’s wriggle, he didn’t know where.

Maybe inside an apple or even a pear.

The last time he had it was yesterday noon.

He’d be in real big trouble if he didn’t find it soon.

With daylight approaching and birds looking round

For their breakfast, he needed to be underground.

For now he was safe, or as safe as could be,

But he must lie quite still, or else they would see

This fat juicy worm, (for he’d put on some… Continue
