Hi, Viv, The Canterbury group still meets, upstairs in Costa Coffee, 11 High Street Canterbury, on the first Saturday of every month. Not sure who'll be there this Saturday. Jane Clark can't come (and neither can I), but if you're around, pop in t...

Hi, this is Viv's page

Profile

About Me
Teaching part-time and writing. Following my "always wanted to do that" urge to visit Indie, Folk 'n World music festivals (numerically too old but what the 'eck!)
Travelling, Theatre plus the very occasional gardening and even more occasional housework.
What are you working on at the moment?
Contemporary fantasy and a website to match.
Travel articles.
If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
"The Vanishing of Katarina Linden" - Helen Grant
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Leave it alone - stop angsting and planning - it will take you where it wants to!
If that character won't step into the spotlight just when you expected him to, let him wait, he will bid for attention in his own good time.
The Agent's Party

Many , many thanks to Sue Hyams for organising this event. I managed to get in by the skin of my waiting list teeth!
And I was given what we all dream of - a lovely top London agent looking me straight in the eye and saying :-)
"Tell me about your book."
Hah - and what did I do with my well rehearsed pitch??
As I stuttered and giggled and blushed and said "Erm, ah, well ......" I saw her eyes glaze over and the sweet smile transfix on her face as she looked about for someone with at least a modicum of sense to talk to.
I can only hope, that when she receievs my submission very shortly - and I think I will send it after all, I WAS going to before I met her, honestly I was - - well, I can only hope that she has an extremely bad (if only temporary) memory for names!

Hi Emma :-) It was lovely to meet you there - and I DO like your website! :-)
