- About Me
- I write YAF and 7+ novels. I lecture in various aspects of creative writing at the University of Winchester at both post and undergraduate level. I co-edit the ejournal write4children (www.write4children.org) and recently completed and passed a creative writing PhD. Check out my blog at http://chaosmos-outofchaoscomesorder.blogspot.com
- What are you working on at the moment?
- I finished a realist YAF novel called HAM AND JAM which my PhD examiners absolutely loved and is currently with a publisher. I am now working on a novel aimed at 7+ which is called THE BOOK PROTECTORS' DAUGHTER and another YAF called DISJOINTED which I wrote a few years ago and am rewriting.
- If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
- Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- Something I always tell my students to do is to read your work out loud but I have now learnt not just to read it but to perform it. It really helps to find when sentences aren't working or are clunky.
