Profile

About Me
I am a writer of Young Adult fiction whose tales of adventure and fantasy are always laced with a twist of horror and suspense.
A thirty seven year old ex-publican, I decided to return to University to complete an MA in Creative Writing. Living in Portsmouth, I am part of a local writing group and a member of New Writing South & S.C.B.W.I (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators)
I have been writing for pleasure since 1996 and although I have always pursued publication, I have taken steps to pursue publication seriously since enrolling on the MA in 2010.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am self publishing my debut novel a YA fairy tale laced with suspense and humour, called The Amber Room. It will be available on Amazon and Smashwords from the 9th of April.
I am also writing my second novel, Jackie Jones a YA adventure set in the English countryside where six kids arrive at the mysterious Heath Hall to win a cash prize and find that they are all called Jackie Jones.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Easy. Blood Red Road by Moira Young.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Networking is vital. Not only do you meet such kind, like-minded people who understand and help you; you actually exist as a writer.

Tom, look forward to seeing review. I gave up on Facebook. Worked a whole day  on it but didn't want to import my address book or to be honest get updates from everyone having a good time baking cakes, doing their hair or out on their town off their face.  Churlish I know but c'est moi.  I have a magazine to run and books to write. Probably why I am disappearing into the countryside where the only distraction is Mooing not tweeting.  Hope they have broadband out there though.  Forgot to ask!  See you on 24th.  *Very happy you liked The Repossession
