- About Me
- I work part-time as a lecturer, teaching further and higher education students writing-related subjects including Publishing and Journalism. In November my short story for 9-12 year olds, SEA CANARIES, will be published by Frances Lincoln in an anthology called UNDER THE WEATHER.
- What are you working on at the moment?
- My current project is BIRDS IN THREE DIMENSIONS, a performance event that combines poetry, music and illustrations as one. My project collaborators are musician Michael Harding and illustrator Louise Grant.
The first public performance will be on Thursday November 19 from 7.30pm -9pm at The Pod, South East Essex College, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS1 1ND. Please contact me for tickets, which are £5 each. Discounts are available for groups of eight or more.

- If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
- SARA'S FACE by Melvin Burgess. I like dark, and I have never read another teenage novel that pushes the envelope quite like this one. A disturbing, brave and moving exploration of a pretty teenager who believes she is ugly, and the depths a twisted plastic surgeon will go to in order to exploit this.
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- Networking is paramount.
