Profile

About Me
I am a Children's book illustrator and animator based in Soho, London with my little deaf dog Holly.

I am represented by Watson Little Ltd.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on four books at the moment, two with Little Tiger Press and two with Nosy Crow. The first Little Tiger book 'Five Christmas Penguins' is out in September 2012 and the first Nosy Crow book called 'Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam' is out in March 2013.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
I absolutely love 'No!' by Marta Altes. I love a good dog book and this is up there with the best.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
To trust myself more - I often worry that I'm heading in the wrong direction with a design or layout but nine times out of ten it's really not too bad!

My first title with Nosy Crow is now online...

Working with the wonderful team at Nosy Crow and Tracey Corderory has been a real joy and now it's getting very exciting as the book is launched this week at Bologna.

Hello Steven,

Great you're on the Ning! Check out the Illustrator Series on the main SCBWI BI site, and there's a blog for published SCBWI illustrators you could contribute to (another thing I have to get around to doing  - you're reminding me of all these things I should be doing...;)

Can't wait to see the books with Nosy Crow and Little Tiger!

A really exciting time for you Steven. Are you going to Bologna? I would love to. Maybe next year.

Do you write as well as illustrate? I can't even manage a matchstick man!! Paul Morton (also an SCBWI member) has done superb illustrations for me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Scoobie Steven and many congratulations on your success with Nosy Crow. Joining the yahoo SCBWI group is useful and fun and also check out the superb London Professional Series. They are always good events. A 'must not miss' is the November Conference in Winchester. Hope to see you there!
