- About Me
- Day job - doctor. Psychiatrist in busy general hospital, working mainly in A&E and the transplant unit.
Night job - author of seven books for children - mostly historically set sea adventure stories. Now branching out into film: I adapted Philip Pullman's The Butterfly Tattoo as a feature film last year (see www.tbtproject.com)
- What are you working on at the moment?
- Finishing draft 2 of the screenplay for my next film - an adaptation of a Dutch novel of sporting companionship shattered by war, entitled On the Water. More info via www.onthewater.eu
- If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
- Philip Pullman: Once Upon a Time in the North. I'd give my right arm for the opportunity to adapt it for the big screen.
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- No-one Knows Nothing! So follow your interests, not the market.
