- About Me
- I’m a Midwestern American, living in Scotland. I have written several short stories and published poems, but my main focus is writing for MG and YA audiences. My completed MG novel, From the Fog, is about a boy who has a seemingly chance sighting of something unearthly in the thickening fog. The unfolding nightmare launches him into a war on a physical and mental battlefield against a water demon named Manasseh, who is threatening to take over the village of Wickstead. I am currently revising my new YA novel, Being Ben, which deals with life after divorce from the view point of 15 year old Ben.
- What are you working on at the moment?
- I have been re-re-re-re-writing "Being Ben", my YA novel, for ages now. I have also been polishing "From the Fog", my MG novel, and am hoping to have it as close to perfect as possible, thanks to the help of my amazing critique group at the Winchester conference!
- If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
- I'm too indecisive at the moment to give any sort of proper answer. I will get back to you.
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- You can learn so much from other people, so be sure to watch closely and listen patiently, because it may be just the tip you need for a breakthrough in your writing.

Soz for not getting back earlier, but I've been staying away from the internet and emails so I can concentrate on editing the SCBWI SL Newsletter....editing, ha, I've not done anything since Winchester. Mainly because of work, then being ill and then Christmas....naughty me!
