I'm an editor at Working Partners. I love all things nerdy. If I'm not writing I'm probably playing video games or singing with Crouch End Festival Chorus.
What are you working on at the moment?
Skulk, my YA urban fantasy, is out on submission right now, as is my sample for a new Working Partners project.
I'm writing a new YA Victorian Gothic adventure that I'm currently calling A Sinister Science.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
I'm so behind on my to-read pile that most of the books I read this year weren't published this year... but I can heartily recommend Jasmine Richards' The Book Of Wonders. Scheherazade (Zardi) going off on a high-stakes adventure, sailing the seas of Arribithia to save her family from a wicked misogynist sultan. Really awesome.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
I could say 'to trust my instincts without constantly second-guessing myself', which is pretty good advice... but if I claimed to have actually learned how to put it into practice I would be lying.
