Profile

About Me
Aspiring children's writer and full-time mum. I also interview willing volunteers keen to talk about writing for children in my series of podcasts over at In the Wishing Chair.
What are you working on at the moment?
A YA thriller set in Newcastle. Yes, I know the pitch needs pizzazz, I'm working on it...
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Bloodstone by Gillian Philip
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Keep reading, learning and persevering. And never run out of coffee or cake.

Rebecca, hi! I'm not really sure how this all works and I don't want to step on anyone's toes...but I noticed you said you finished a YA novel and are editing (is this right?). I am pitching to two agents in September and could really do with a crit, especially of my first 3000 words. Do you fancy swopping extracts then meeting up? Do you know of anyone else in the group who are near and would like to do the same. Loved your blog by the way. Thanks, Marie-Claire

Hi Rebecca, how are you? Sorry not to have been in touch for a while. Life has been very hectic with work and family. How's your writing going? I've managed the prologue and 3 pges of my fantasy sequel - I'm not sure where the plot is going or even if there is one! It seems so hard to start on something new and leave the previous story alone but I have to prove to myself that i can write something new and not just re-edit all the time. The first story Legacy/To Dance with the Wind is still unpublished but I'll keep plugging away at that.  How are your story ideas coming?

cheers

Rachel
