About Me
I write fast & funny books for children, and work as a digital product manager for Oxford University Press.

I've been writing in various genres ever since university, but I've only really got serious about writing for children in the last nine years. I have two daughters aged 8 and 12 who are the best audience ever!

Long, long ago, in an anthology far, far away, my fast-paced zombie comedy Back from the Dead was one of the twelve winners of Undiscovered Voices 2010

I'm Webmaster for SCBWI-BI and I also blog fairly successfully about writing at http://whoatemybrain.com
What are you working on at the moment?
Something younger and funger (is that a word?) - an 8+ series with my very first female protagonist.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Recently, I have very much enjoyed the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness which I read in one huge block and Young Bond - Double or Die by Charlie Higson.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Every writer needs to observe good etiquette at all times. You can read Sir Stanley de Winter's advice here: http://www.whoatemybrain.com/2012/08/etiquette-for-authors.html

Hi Nick, thanks for the welcome. I'm booking on to the Professional Series North in February (and looking forward to it). Now I have my latest essay out of the way I need to get on with sorting out a place on a critique group. Happy Christmas, Lou.
