Profile

About Me
I worked as a local reporter before deciding to write a children's book. I'm keen to get a really polished draft finished before I start sending it round to agents, as I hear this is what they want. I'm on draft #2 at the moment.
What are you working on at the moment?
The first in a series of funny novels aimed at 9-12 year olds.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
None from this year have stuck out for me, but other books I've loved are Al Capone Shines My Shoes (Gennifer Choldenko), The London Eye Mystery (Siobhan Dowd) and Cosmic (Frank Cottrell Boyce).
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Having an external deadline works wonders for productivity.

Hi Miriam.  It was good to meet you too.  Plus I didn't even know ScWbi had a "friends" facility... which is a sort of not patient available Facebook....

Hi Miriam,  Many thanks for contacting me.  I'm v interested in finding a critique group in London.  However, I'm also deep in the middle of a PGCE (I don't know what possessed me.  I must have been mad).  For the next two months my work load is overwhelming.  I don't know when you are thinking of starting up?  I am around from April - maybe that is too late for you?  Does it matter that I am interested in writing for 6-9 year olds?

Best wishes, Polly
