About Me
Studying for my MA in Creative Writing in Manchester. Freelance writer, writes for adults and children.
What are you working on at the moment?
Trying to find a route to get my children's novel 'out there'. Working on my adult's novel through my MA.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
How to Train your Dragon - How to Steal a Dragon's Sword.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Re-draft, re-draft, edit. Find a critiquing group. I do for adult writing through my MA, not found one yet for my chldren's work.

Hi Lou,

How funny, I have a good friend called Lou also moved to Oz. But four days!! I wouldn't be over the jet lag yet!

It would be great if you could tell me a little about where you are with your writing, what you'd like to get out of the group and what your level of commitment is.

Our new group will be made up of the straggling wreckage of two other groups falling apart, as well as some new people. The group I was on crumbled apart after a few months of lots of changes, and I know this leaves people feeling exposed and disconnected. What I'm aiming for is a group that can really bond over time so that there is a high level of trust and, I suppose, intimacy. If this sounds like what you're looking for - then brilliant!  As Nickt said, writing is a lonely, usually long, road so support of the right kind can make a huge difference.

Let me know what you think!

Hi Lou - I haven't been on here in ages - I'm based in Chester.  I've just taken a little break from writing to get my business off the ground to earn some money, so that I can continue to write without feeling pressured (I've got quite a long way to go!) !

Will you be coming to the Chester or Manchester crit groups?

How very strange that you're in Alsager now. I grew up on Audley Road on one side of the level crossing and went to Excalibur school on the other side. It was in an old forces installation with strange looking tanks full of dark liquid outside the nissen hut classrooms. Am showing my age here. Happy New Year to you too.
