Larisa Villar Hauser said… Hi Lou,
How funny, I have a good friend called Lou also moved to Oz. But four days!! I wouldn't be over the jet lag yet!
It would be great if you could tell me a little about where you are with your writing, what you'd like to get out of the group and what your level of commitment is.
Our new group will be made up of the straggling wreckage of two other groups falling apart, as well as some new people. The group I was on crumbled apart after a few months of lots of changes, and I know this leaves people feeling exposed and disconnected. What I'm aiming for is a group that can really bond over time so that there is a high level of trust and, I suppose, intimacy. If this sounds like what you're looking for - then brilliant! As Nickt said, writing is a lonely, usually long, road so support of the right kind can make a huge difference.
Let me know what you think!
Larisa
Hi Lou, thanks for the brilliant message! My wife sends her heart-felt sympathies - she had to make me a huge tub of sticky earwax for my school visits. Hope the bogey goes well, and be careful - as my book goes to show, bogies can kill.
Steve
Hi Lou, glad you enjoyed the Author Panel, and thanks for getting a Danny Baker book! Let's hope you (and Danny!) can ruffle a few more curriculum feathers! Lovely to speak to you today, and hope to see you at the next meeting.

Becky Bertram said… Hi Lou - I haven't been on here in ages - I'm based in Chester. I've just taken a little break from writing to get my business off the ground to earn some money, so that I can continue to write without feeling pressured (I've got quite a long way to go!) !
Will you be coming to the Chester or Manchester crit groups?
Tish Farrell said… How very strange that you're in Alsager now. I grew up on Audley Road on one side of the level crossing and went to Excalibur school on the other side. It was in an old forces installation with strange looking tanks full of dark liquid outside the nissen hut classrooms. Am showing my age here. Happy New Year to you too.
Sandra Johnson said… Have a Great Christmas and good luck with the book.

Hi Lou, and of course I remember you! you and Sarah were fab! I started off intending to join the crit groups meeting in Manchester but just have so much trouble finding time to do anything! "When" a kind publisher decides to sign me up with an advance for Book 2, I can give up the day job, lol! x
Hi Lou! How are you? I'm afraid I rarely get on to the SCBWI site so thanks for the Friend prod!! Jane
Tish Farrell said… Nice to know you visit Wenlock and of course this coming year the town will be having lots of visitors with the Olympic connection. I live near the original Olympian field. Also I grew up in Cheshire - first near Smallwood and then in Alsager.
