Hi Nick Dude - I love your own advice to yourself and admire you greatly for it. Excellent outlook! Whenever I get low I think about Patrick Rothfuss, fantastic fantasy author from the States who worked on his debut novel for 14 years, 14 differ...

LOL - Nick - don't you start. The Spec Ops books are massive in the States and most of them fall under the adult paranormal romance / urban fantasy genre. Didn't you ever read the Executioner books or the Mack Bolan books? It's almost the same, ju...

Well done! It's fair to say that I hadn't up until this point even considered that you might have romance books devoted to particular sectors of the armed forces! Sounds like there could be a range of profitable niches for you to explore (oo-er)

Profile

About Me
I've completed my first middle grade novel and am currently in a state of high anxiety doing revisions and rewriting some scenes and wild plottings for further installments.
What are you working on at the moment?
My novel - CURSE OF THE DJINN
If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
Simon & Schuster
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
BIC - Butt in Chair. I've heard it for ages. I thought I was doing it. I've never been able to finish a single story I've started - not counting any short stories - and once I became determined to write DJINN, I wrote it in four months. Dedication and butt in chair - it's the way forward.

Help Needed: Picture Books Suggestions

Dear fellows Scoobiers

With Christmas coming up I'm looking for picture book suggestions to buy for my two little god-daughters. They are 4 and 2 respectively and although they can't officially read, they love their books and their parents reading for them.

I've already given them stacks during the year but am looking for new suggestions for pressies. Of course I've got The Quiet Woman and the Noisy Dog by Sue Eves on my wishlist to buy them, but any other suggestions would be gratefully recei… Continue

** I'll be attending talks and talking to people, on my own

People, this is huge! It is so scary. Am going somewhere completely different and new and talking to new people, experiencing new things. Did I mention I'm doing this on my own? You may laugh but sometimes I have t… Continue

My first sale

I've received word that I can go "public" with my good news:

My adult short story "Good Guys" has been sold to Constable & Robinson for inclusion in their March 2010 anthology called "The Mammoth Book of Special Ops Romance."

Now, I realise it's not strictly SCBWI reading material but it's my first sale so I just had to pop over here and be all *glee* about it.

I've put more information about it over on my official author's blog -… Continue

The Fear

Something really crappy happened yesterday - my entire purse with all my cards got nabbed straight out of my bag whilst in Starbucks.

Luckily for me, I noticed it practically immediately, rang hubby dearest who in turn rang the bank and cancelled the cards. It turns out the grimy thieves tried to withd… Continue
