Profile

About Me
I've completed my first middle grade novel and am currently in a state of high anxiety doing revisions and rewriting some scenes and wild plottings for further installments.
What are you working on at the moment?
My novel - CURSE OF THE DJINN
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Simon & Schuster
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
BIC - Butt in Chair. I've heard it for ages. I thought I was doing it. I've never been able to finish a single story I've started - not counting any short stories - and once I became determined to write DJINN, I wrote it in four months. Dedication and butt in chair - it's the way forward.

Querying

Zomg, people, fellow SCBWIers - after much revising and rewriting and hours of intense research, I've sent my novel CURSE OF THE DJINN off to a few agents for querying.

Both a relief and a terror-inducing moment. It feels surreal, actually. Now I can really go ahead with something else and not just potter around with a variety of projects.

This is the PR:…

Help Needed: Picture Books Suggestions

Dear fellows Scoobiers

With Christmas coming up I'm looking for picture book suggestions to buy for my two little god-daughters. They are 4 and 2 respectively and although they can't officially read, they love their books and their parents reading for them.

I've already given them stacks during the year but am looking for new suggestions for pressies. Of course I've got The Quiet Woman and the Noisy Dog by Sue Eves on my wishlist to buy them, but any other suggestions… Continue

*So Excited*

I've crossposted this from my LJ.

I am ridiculously excited about my first SCBWI British Isles conference being held this coming weekend in Winchester.

** I'm travelling up by my ownself

** I'm staying in a hotel on my own

** I'll be attending talks and talking to people, on my own

People, this is huge! It is so scary. Am going somewhere completely different and new and talking to new people, experiencing new things. Did I mention I'm doing this on my… Continue
