About Me
I'm a geologist, which means I'm deadly accurate with a pencil crayon at twenty paces. I spend my spare time honing my skills in procrastination.
What are you working on at the moment?
Dirt Dog - a contemporary YA, part love story, part thriller. It's great fun to write!
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Fifteen Days Without A Head, by Dave Cousins, which is worth reading for the first chapter alone.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Just keep swimming...

On the search for some more serious YA fiction...

I started a blog recently, looking at the more serious end of YA, and this week it's the turn of August, by Bernard Beckett, which is a fantastic read - different from anything else I've read. http://jowyton.blogspot.com/2012/03/august-by-bernard-beckett.htmlJoSee More

Bloodied and Bandaged: My Arvon Experience

I spent last week at an Arvon course, and blogged about it, of course! Well, what else did I go for?...

Hey - that was quick for me. I am sitting here with Mark having a really step by step lesson, so don't expect me to be doing much else for a while. I seem to have a picture that makes me look like a rabbit. Am I doing this right???

Can't think why you were knocked off e-critique!  Guessing it must be a technical glitch.  Have added you to the group again.  Be sure to cling on tightly! :-)

Hi Jo,

Many thanks for your very kind message. I've been 'off-line' for the past month so only just picked up your comments. Did you manage to make it to the crit group?

Best regards,

Dan

Hi Jo,

Nice to meet you.  That's interesting about an Oxford critique group. There may be others nearby who would find it useful too - and it's always great to meet other writers.
