About Me
I do all kinds of writing and sometimes get a bit confused about which hat I'm wearing. Children's books have always been a passion and I'm writing several simultaneously. Right now I don't have an agent for them, but I do have an agent (www.andrewlownie.com) for my new grown-up's book THE MYSTERY OF LEWIS CARROLL - read more about it on my website www.jabberwock.co.uk

For years I have reviewed children's books for the Ham and High series of regional newspapers. It would be nice to think that I could join their number someday.

I also work part time as a travel writer, and am a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers. My travel blog is on www.jennywoolftravel.blogspot.com

Other than all this writing, I like cycling, countryside, reading, gardening and lots of other stuff. I'm married and have two daughters and now 2 grandsons. Whoopee! they are such fun. At the risk of sounding like a Hallmark greeting card, I do agree with the slogan that if I had known grandchildren were so much fun, I'd have had them first.
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm cautiously pleased at present because an editor at a large publishing house is very keen on one of my novels and is working with me on getting it into shape where she can mention it in a meeting. I have perhaps too many and too varied projects on the go in children's books. I think it's probably best to stick to one thing. But that's the way I am. I once met the late great Jan Mark who said not having a "brand" was her problem too. Of course Jan was a genius writer, and I do not put myself in that category, so I'm now thinking about trying to narrow my focus and perhaps use pseudonyms.
If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
Emma Chichester Clark's "Minty and Tink" - it gives the impression that it will be the first in a fab series that may even end up rivalling her "Blue Kangaroo."
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Networking is so important. I love hearing what people have to say but I'm not a natural networker and have probably lost trillions of opportunitiies by being too self effacing.
