- About Me
- I am a writer of children's book by night and an editor of children's books by day, so I guess I sit on both sides of the fence . . .
I read the manuscripts that come across my desk, waiting to fall in love, and I make those hard decisions every day about what is going to work best for my publisher’s list.
Then as evening comes, I put on my writer’s cap and begin work on my novel. I polish and tighten, knowing that someone like the editor-me [who is a little stressed and overwhelmed by stories] is going to look at this novel one day and make up their minds pretty quickly as to whether this is something that they can take forward. I know how rare it is to find that RIGHT book, so I know how hard I have to work.
- What are you working on at the moment?
- I’m working on a fantastical adventure novel called THE WINDROSE which re-imagines the life of one of the greatest storytellers in history, Scheherazade, the narrator of Arabian Nights. It is for a 10+ audience.

- The Ask and Answer by Patrick Ness
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- Know yourself, know your book, know that no one knows your book better than you.
