- I'm an embarrassement to my children and a terrible writer though I reckon if I get any worse I might graduate to comedy-writing.
- What are you working on at the moment?
- A turbulent, dark, funny, 12+ 'rites of passage' modern thriller adventure hoping to knock a brick in the wall publishers are building between fluffy pink-clad fiction for girls and bland black-clad 'HIVE' type fiction for boys.
- If you were asked to recommend just one children's book published this year, what would it be?
- Before I Die (Random House)
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- That narrative which manages to be poignant and funny is the common currency in Europe at the moment.
