Twiddling fingers

So there I was arguing with a friend about punctuation and dialogue and thought it would be a good idea to show an example. I pull out a Terry Pratchett book - and the bloody thing is far from perfect. So I take a gander at a Horowitz - Alex Rider novel. Now that's better but has punctuation that seems to have slipped down and come to rest in between two words in the line below with no idea as to why they are now separated.I feel sorry for words.They rely on us to do the right thing by them and…See More

What's happened?
I took ages crafting all this text about me and It's gone,
Now that's deep.
What are you working on at the moment?
final edit of Alistair: Connected and notes for second part of his story. I've knocked up a website http://www.softmachine.net that lays out Alistair's world, background to environment, key players, technology.
All of the technology in the book is literally 'just around the corner'.
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
