I am in two critique groups formally and also critique with two other friends from a course I did in Faber. I also write with my friend and he is usually my first reader.
But what do I want from a critique group?
Firstly I want honest feedback from my critique group. They are my truth buddies. I want them to say what I have written isn’t working if it doesn’t work. I want them to say that the rhyme is forced or the story line is slight or they can’t find it funny. I want them…

Tulika Books are based in Chennai, India. It is my home-town. Well, it is a coastal city. When I started writing picture books in earnest, my first ambition was to be published by Tulika. One of my writer acquaintances had got a book with them and then I found another. I was jealous and I was green with envy. All in a good way of course.

Simon Frederick Beck said… Hi!
I'm a self-published author and illustrator looking for an agent and hopefully a publisher. I was wondering if you might be interested in commenting on my work.
You can view all my books on line at www.twinkleshark.co.uk, but please let me know if you would like a complimentary paperback of any title.
Thanks,
Simon Beck
Elli Woollard said… Thanks Chitra. I don't think I've received a questionnaire yet, but that could just be me being thick! I'm still finding my way around the Ning.
Elli Woollard said… I was wondering if you could add my name to the Wordsprouts waiting list too. At the moment I'm pinging all my stories over to my agent without having them critiqued by other PB authors first, but I'd really like some feedback on them before they get to the submission stage.
Many thanks,
Elli
