Profile

About Me
I am illustrating and writing my own stories but would welcome collaborations too. I work as a special needs teaching assistant in a primary school, am interested in writing poetry and general arty things.
What are you working on at the moment?
An on-going story I am writing and illustrating with a character called Peeko. I also have another story which involves a dalmatian and a zebra. "The moment" has lasted for quite a few years with Peeko so I would dearly love to finish her off in the nicest possible way!
If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
Singing Away the Dark by Caroline Woodward, illustrated by Julie Morstad. The writing is simple yet poetical and the illustrations are bold but also subtle. I like the use of negative space and the rich colour palette; very striking.
What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
Accepting that I work in fits and bursts and that's ok!

Hi Annika, Thanks for the message. I'm a wannabe writer  - my children's writing is 5-7 / 8-11 [ish] for picture books, short story collections and novel respectively but working on interactive activity pages for children suffering trauma at the mo [5-18 yrs]. Just signed up for a watercolour pencils course [?!?] to improve the pages.

Trying to get to Winchester conference...
