- About Me
- I am an unpublished writer of children's/YA realist fantasy. I have devoted lots of years to studying my craft however, having graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in the US and then gained a BA in English with Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and a MA in Creative Writing from the University of Exeter. I am now pursuing my PhD in Creative Writing - mainly so that I can justify devoting half of my working life to writing!
- What are you working on at the moment?
- I have two big projects! I am currently working on the first book in a YA fantasy series reimagining Spenser's THE FAERIE QUEENE in a modern context. I am also in the early stages of my PhD project which is a (hopefully) YA/Adult crossover historical fantasy set in the Regency period and taking inspiration from the Arabian Nights.
- If you had to recommend just one children's book you've read in the last year, what would it be?
- I haven't read any yet - too buried in Regency research at the moment! In terms of what's coming in 2012, I am looking forward to UNSPOKEN by Sarah Rees Brennan.
- What is the most important thing you learned about writing or illustrating this year?
- Don't be too hard on yourself!
