We’re very excited to announce our School Visits Skills Sharing Day, exclusively for SCBWI members
£10–coffee/tea & biscuits provided; please bring lunch.
• School assemblies
o How do you make your assembly fun, memorable and interesting?
o How do you cope with nerves when talking to large groups of children?
• School workshops
o Ideas for different sessions
o How do you keep their attention and manage disruption?
• How to market yourself –online, locally; how do you get school visits –what works, what doesn’t?
o How can we as authors/illustrators work together to increase our school visits?
• EXTRAS –what else can you do around school visits to stand out and earn extra income (including how to make a book of children’s work for them to sell to parents)?
• General discussion about school visits
Authors/illustrators are invited to try out sections of an Assembly or workshop that they currently do (or are planning to) to share with the group and to gain useful feedback (five minutes maximum). Please let us know when booking. Some sessions will be whole group session and some will be broken down into primary and secondary school visits.
This event is very much about sharing skills and best practice and is primarily for published authors/illustrators who are already visiting schools. However, if you are expecting to visit schools soon you are also welcome but please bring some ideas too.
This is a SCBWI members only event and places are limited. Please contact j_clarebell@yahoo.co.uk), for booking details or more information. Thank you. Donna Vann and Juliet Clare Bell.
