Stir, Pour, Bake and Serve
A working recipe for a great picture book
No matter your experience level—as a picture book writer or illustrator, you can always benefit from more fresh ideas–the key ingredient for an original picture book. The aim of this one day workshop will be to stir up ideas from a reliable source—childhood memories—and pour some of these into a story structure using some tried and tested techniques. With a bit of play, you’ll cook up a new picture book project, sample it with others, and using Bridget’s guidelines, get it ready to serve up to publishers.
About Bridget
Now settled back in the UK after over 25 years in France, SCBWI International Illustrator Liaison, Bridget Strevens-Marzo loves creating rich visual worlds for children to inhabit.

She has had starred reviews for How do You Make a Baby Smile? and her most recent book, Mini Racer, which shows her talent for visual sub-stories. Comment by Bridget Strevens-Marzo on June 12, 2012 at 17:32 Sorry to miss you Paul. Barnsley Fake sounds like serious competition. I might be tempted myself...No, you can count on me for starters, Katherine and Maureen!

Comment by Paul Morton on June 12, 2012 at 0:00 Actually I'm completely messed up with my months, the festival is June 21st and we are 'possibly' camping in Snowden on 21st July but that's not yet a definite so I can change my coming status to maybe (at this moment in time).
Comment by Paul Morton on June 11, 2012 at 23:52 Oh I knew when you mentioned the 21st before maureen that it rang a bell. Barnsley Fake Festival is that day. (rock festival) and we have tickets.
Hope it goes well and that i read about it online.
